Ahmed Hassan of FC Johansen has won the best player award in the just concluded Pepsi Coca Cola Competition in Nigeria. This information was disclosed by Lansana Claye who accompanied the team to Nigeria.
He said the competition was won by the Gambia national U-17 team as they defeated Liberty Professionals by a goal to nil to clinch this year Pepsi Coca Cola competition.
Even though the team was eliminated in the group stage of the competition after losing their last match to Gateway U-17 youth team of Abeokuta in Nigeria by three goals to one (3-1), Ahmed Hassan was still voted for as the best player.
According to further information, the team lost because of poor goal keeping as the first choice goal keeper Aruna Kamara sustained injuries during their match with Gambia U-17.
FC Johansen won their first match against Pepsi Football Academy team one and drew with Gambia National U-17 team they only needed a draw against Gateway U-17 Youth team but they failed to get it and they were beaten.
The team is expected to compete in another youth competition in Nigeria next month after receiving the invitation because of their performance in Pepsi competition.
