Head coach of the Nigerian national team, Amodu Shuaibu has extended invitation to five players from the Olympic soccer team who recently won silver at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in China ahead of the final first round game of the 2010 World Cup/Nations Cup qualifier against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone.
There have been calls from several quarters urging Amodu to introduce some players from the Olympic team into the Super Eagles squad as they believe they are the future of Nigeria.
The Olympic players invited into the team are Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke, Sani Keita and Ayodele Adeleye, Apam Onyekachi and Obinna Nsofor.
Nigeria has already qualified for the next round of the qualifiers, amassing the maximum points possible and conceding no goal in the process.
Sierra Leone could book their way to the next round if they manage a result against Nigeria and hope other results go in their favour. Amodu Shuaibu has called up 20 players for the game, scheduled to be held on October 12th at the Abuja International Stadium. The invited players for the encountered against Leone Stars are
Bamidele Aiyenugba, Austin Ejide
Joseph Yobo, Danny Shittu, Apam Onyekachi, Taye Taiwo, Ayodele Adeleye, Chidi Odiah
