Some disappointed Bumbuna affected persons residing at the back of the National Stadium, Brookfields, Freetown who are yet to receive their packages from Laynaa Consultants have started demolishing their houses.
In an interview with some of them, they told Awoko that they underwent all the process but have still not received their packages and they were told that they should check out of their houses by the end of July.
A tenant of 55 Bismarck Johnson Street, Hawa Sesay recalled that, since the payment exercise started she has not receive a single cent, but yet still they have been asked to vacate their houses as the Bumbuna light will come on at any time.
She reiterated that she was the first person to do the registration in her compound and all of her co tenants have received theirs and have left for other places.
Sesay noted that, her two room apartment has been demolished but she does not have any money to rent another house for her family.
She explained that she was paying Le 50,000 a month and had occupied that apartment since 2002.
The house owner, of 55 Bismarck Johnson Street, Sima Turay said that he built his house in 1991 but acquired the land before that through his mother.
He stated that he has received his money with no land to build another house for his family. He said that he decided to demolish his houses fearing that when the demolishing exercise would have started he will not regain any of his property. Another Tenant noted that he has not received his money and where he was staying has been demolished by his landlord. And he is now occupying the premises of one tenant that had vacated.
Thomas Fangawa an officer of Pendrax Security also explained his own ordeal.
AWOKO contacted the Consultant Sahr James for an interview and he said “let them get out and if possible let them go to court or to the Ombudsman’s office”. “I do not care, let them go anywhere” he added.
