The Chief Executive officer of Malondifeh Farmers Association who is also a mechanic in Freetown, Saio Koroma, said he vows to invest in agriculture to rescue people from hunger. He added agriculture is the bedrock of development. The Malondifeh Farmers Association began harvesting rice in Kondembaia, Diang Chiefdom, Koinadugu District in January. He decided to start the farming project to encourage people in Diang Chiefdom to invest in agriculture. The community has historically relied on mining, which Koroma believes cannot help them address hunger in the village. The Secretary General, Daniel Kerah, said the organization does not have a tractor or harvester. He said sometimes there’s also a lack of manpower on the farms. Kerah furthered, “I studied agriculture in university so am prepared to deliver the best for people.”
