As a result of the fire incident that took place on the 22nd March at around 2pm when a police officer fired a tear gas canister into the crowd of desperate people collecting fuel from a leakage in the main oil refinery fuel transfer pipe at Texaco terminal, three suspects Abu Conteh, Lamin Kamara and Abdulai Kamara were charged during the weekend with unlawful possession of 5 gallons of petrol at Quarry off Bai Bureh Road arraigned before magistrate Steven Conteh of court No. 1.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The defense lawyer T. M. Navo applied for bail for his clients on the grounds that they have reliable surety and that they will not interfere with prosecution witnesses. Although the Prosecuting witness police Sgt. 1428 Bangura Y objected to bail it was granted in the sum of Le 5 million each.
The matter was adjourned to the 8th April 2009.
