As Investigations into the child cruelty case continues Maimunatu Kamara mother of the five year old tortured child at 30 Braima Lane has arrived in Freetown from Bo dejected with disappointment, frustration and shock as a result of an alleged torture, merciless beating and enslavement of her daughter by a foster parent in Freetown.
The arrival of the mother in Freetown on the child right abuse of her daughter has brought more revelations against the foster parent. She told the Family Support Unit at the Kissy Police that she was misinformed about the well being of her daughter in Freetown.
“How can this woman treat my daughter like a beast, if my daughter has done any thing wrong to her aunt, she could have returned her to me but torturing her is unacceptable” she said.
The mother promised to take her daughter to Bo because her life is in danger in Freetown. I cried bitterly over the inhuman treatment of my daughter; look at her face, ear, back and shoulders she was beaten up like a beast and presently in pains and there are scars all over her body.
The five year old girl has been in Freetown without schooling, proper shelter, food and clothing; all she knows is to do domestic work at home. Our Investigative reporter also found out that she was sleeping on a bare floor in a cramped room.
The life of the five year old girl has been miserable since she arrived in Freetown, however the foster parent Hannah Koroma is presently in police custody for beating up the five year old girl unreasonably and the matter is expected to be charged to court.
Several parents spoken to by our investigative reporter have expressed dismay over the high level of child right abuses in the country with impunity and called on the Government to speedily investigate all reported cases to the Police and punish defaulters to deter others.
Child Welfare organizations and the Ministry of Social Welfare Children and Gender Affairs have expressed keen interest in the matter as investigations continue in our subsequent editions.
