Makeni, SIERRA LEONE – Fans as well as players and some officials of Wusum Stars Football Club are still devastated over their 0-4 home defeat suffered over the weekend at home to Freetown visitors Mighty Blackpool Football Club in match day-7 of the ongoing National Men’s Top-Tier.
This means “the Northern Rock,” as the team is nicknamed, is now seated in 18th place at the rock bottom of the league’s log with 5 points having won only one and drawing three of their last seven league matches.
Just 24 hours after their heavy 0-4 defeat to Mighty Blackpool at the Wusum Stadium in Makeni which becomes the team’s 4th loss in seven matches played so far in this year’s championship race, the management of Wusum Stars Football Club has confirmed the sacking of their Head Coach Abdulrahman “Agina” Turay.
The Makeni-based club Monday, January 9 announced the sacking of their Head Coach who’s also a former player of the club which he had managed for nearly two decades, fueling the team’s return to the National Men’s Championship after 9 years, and let them finish 3rd last in last season’s top-tier contest.
According to the club, they’ve effectively immediately parted ways with one of their greatest former players and Head Coach whose former clubmate and Assistant team coach-I “Abdul “German” Bangura taking over the team as caretaker coach until a replacement is made.” ARW/10/1/2023
