Former President Ernest Bai Koroma who doubles as Chairman and Leader of the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) has told supporters of the party that because of the injunction taken by some members, they will have no alternative but to continue with the 1995 Constitution. Addressing the members and journalists during the conference, Former President Koroma said after the 2018 elections, members of the party called for the review of the 1995 constitution and for the past year, they have worked so well to get the new constitution adopted last Saturday, but on Friday six members of the party went to court and took an injunction to stop the party from holding its conference. “Well all of us are here today (Saturday) and the conference we should have held to adopt the new constitution, has been nullified and we are now in a press conference for us to explain what the party intend to do. It is now imminent that we will continue with our 1995 constitution and in the coming days and weeks we will decide when we will get elections for regional bodies and thereafter we choose our flag bearer.” Ernest Bai Koroma said as a former President he will continue to campaign for peace and would admonish the APC party to keep the peace because it is only when there is peace that the country will develop. He said in the past two years what the party has gone through has been tough, running from the ACC to the CID and to the courts with their lawyers. This he said has kept the party united and resilient and they would continue to keep the peace until they win back power. “No one is bigger than the party and I want to thank all of the different groups that have been steadfast and prudent to publicize the party and to keep us on our toes as well as telling the world that nobody can destroy the APC.”

She said thE matter went to the PPRC where they six members were told that they do not have the Locus Standii to stop the conference. “Because they were disappointed by the PPRC, they then went to the High court with their SLPP Lawyer to file in the injunction. The Judge went ahead to pass verdict without listening to the other side and slammed the injunction in less than one hour.” The team lead of the Legal Team of the APC Africanus Sesay said they have already put together their defense and they are optimistic that they will overturn the injunction. “We want to assure you all of our commitment to this our party as we will do everything to keep the party on the right track.
