Exactly three weeks after he took the oath of office President Ernest Bai Koroma last night released the names of ten people who will be part of his first cabinet.
The ten include the President of the Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ) Ibrahim Ben Kargbo as Information and Communications Minister, notable civil society campaigner Zainab Bangura as Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, David Carew who heads the Auditing firm KPMG as Finance and Economic Development Minister and Spokesman Alpha Kanu as Presidential and Public Affairs Minister.
Also the APC Vice Presidential candidate for the 2002 elections Alhaji Abubakarr Jalloh goes to the Mineral Resources, whilst Serry Kamal becomes the only nominee so far to have been taken from parliament and nominated for the post of Attorney general and Minister of Justice.
Three positions have been awarded to the Peoples Movement for Democratic Change (PMDC).
Health and Sanitation goes to Dr Soccoh Kabia son of the late Paramount Chief Bai Koblo of Lunsar and late Paramount Chief Ella Koblo Gulama.
Works, Housing and Infrastructure John N. Saad and Lands, Country Planning and the Environment former Ships Captain Benjamin O.N. Davies.
The Agriculture, Food Security and Forestry Ministry goes to Dr Sam Sesay who had been an employee of the Ministry as a professional agriculturist, and also NaCSA, but who recently has been doing consultancy work in Liberia.
Technically the President has merged the Finance Ministry with the former Economic Development Ministry and has taken Communications from the Transport Ministry and joined it to Information.
More nominations are expected.
