As Handball is now taking a different turn in the country, one of the renowned Handball teams in the country, African United, is expected to play series of friendly matches in Guinea, Conakry with at least three Guinean Handball clubs slated for October this year.
According to the information gathered by Awoko Sports, the three clubs are the ones they signed a Memorandum of Understanding with some months back in Guinea, Conakry. They clubs are Novotel, Olympique and Asfag
The founder of African United, Glen Felix-George, who also doubles as Chief Executive Officer of the club, said they are looking forward for such friendly matches which will build a very good relationship between the clubs and both countries.
During their stay in Guinea, Conakry, their counterparts will be responsible for their feeding and also internal transportation.
That is why since after signing the Memorandum of Understanding in Guinea, they have been undergoing series of training sessions at the National Stadium to get the teams prepared for the friendly matches, as both male and female teams will take part in the friendly encounter which, he said, they are going to take very seriously.
He went further that apart of the friendly matches, they also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish the frame work for cooperation and exchange of programmes between the clubs
Glen also stated that the cooperation is based on the exchange of ideas for the mutual benefit of member clubs, sharing of technical knowledge in the areas of coaching, refereeing and handball administration, engage in international programs like seminars, workshops, friendly and other competitions, exchange of regular visits and information and cooperation in all spheres of the game.
He also revealed that with time, they are trying to have other relationships with other Handball clubs in the sub-region to make sure that the game takes a difference in the country and also to expose most of the players who are youths and want to show case their talents.
