As Handball is now taking a different turn in the country, one of the renowned Handball teams in the country, African United, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with three Guinean Handball Clubs in Guinea-Conakry. The three handball clubs are Novotel, Olympique and Asfag.
According to the founder who also doubles as Chief Executive Officer of African United, Glen Felix George who was part of the team to Guinea, said that the Memorandum of Understanding establishes the framework for cooperation and exchange of program between these clubs.
He also stated that in the field of twinning, status and international cooperation, the clubs will work together towards the common objective of the development of handball in the two countries.
Glen also revealed that the cooperation is based on the following: the exchange of ideas for the mutual benefit of members the two clubs, sharing of technical knowledge in the areas of coaching, refereeing and handball administration, engage in international programs like seminars, workshops, friendly and other competitions, exchange of regular visits and information and cooperation in all spheres of the game. According to Glen, his idea to have a relationship with Guinean Handball came to him when the national female team was in Mali to participate in a competition and after the competition, they had a fruitful meeting with the Guinea Handball team and they were able to see their dream become a reality in 2011.
Glen also mentioned that they will be in Guinea in October to play friendly international matches with both the male and female teams, and that their Guinean counterparts will be responsible feeding and internal transportation.
