One of the leading Mining Company in Sierra Leone Africa Minerals, has on the 5th April 2010 supported the famous known East Vs West Musical Competition organized by Original Talent Bring Supremacy (TBS) held at the National Stadium Main Bowl in Freetown.
The musical competition attracted over 25,000 spectators and numerous eminent personalities such as the Logistic Manager of African Minerals Musa Bangura, D J Box, Director of Attitudinal and Behavioral Change Mr. Philip Conteh and host of other musical promoters in the country.
Speaking on behalf of African Minerals the Corporate Manager Mustapha Kamara revealed that as one of the leading mining company in the country they thought it fit to involve their hands of assistance to the youthful population in the country, as part of their corporate social responsibilities, adding that as a company they are ready to support the youth in this country in diverse ways not only in providing jobs for them but also to make them feel loved and belonging in the society. He however commended TBS for coming up with such a musical competition yearly, wherein musicians can demonstrate their talent to the nation. He called on the youth of Sierra Leone especially the musicians to continue their good work as African Minerals will be ready and open to support them at all time. He encouraged the fans from the East and West to be tolerant and peaceful as the competition commences, and encouraged them to accept the result when announced by the judges.
According to the Chief Judge of the ceremony Youth Ambassador Junior Antony Navo he encouraged the two sets of competitors to do their best as the best will emerge victorious at the end of the day. He however called on the fans to look up to them as they are credible individuals who can take decisive decisions without taking sides. He ended by commending TBS and the people of Sierra Leone for their massive turnout despite the heavy down pour of rain.
Announcing the result he disclosed that based on their collective assessment and judgment East Coast emerged as the victorious side by scoring 77% whilst West Coast scored 71%, and the best MC of the night goes to Master BeeTus of East Coast while HuzoRex the all time champion lost.
In an interview with some of the youths who witnessed the competition Baimba Suma of East Coast commended African Minerals for their support in boosting this year’s East Vs West competitions, adding that, what African Minerals are doing in the country makes them to rely on them, and will continue to support their operations in the country.
The competition was contested by senior artist in the country. Representing West Coast were Huzorex as MC, Alonzo, Shine D God Son, Vamboi, Lady Luv, Vida, Lady Felicia, DX3, Famous, Reggae Spice, CJ Mac, Jungle Leaders and host of other artists.
Representing East Coast were: MC B Tu Stec, Innocent, Lorish, DJ Lu Lu, Black 4 Conscious, Shedrak, Succulent, Daddy Rhymes, Willey J, Ernest Bockari, Lady F, YOK 7, and host of others.
