The Director of Africa Muslims Agency (AMA) for South and East Sheik Foaad Al-Naif has officially opened the newly constructed mosque of Bo Ngieya Nongowa chiefdom in Kenema district.
In his welcome address Sheik Abdul Koroma embraced Muslims in the district and thanked everyone for gracing the ceremony, pointing out the Regional commander of Police East Elizabeth Turay for her effort to grace the programme.
Sheik Koroma also gave a brief background about the construction of the Bo-Ngieya mosque that he says came about as a contribution made by the Africa Muslim Agency and other agencies in achieving their aim by spreading the Islamic religion in the district.
He says the beneficiaries will ever remain to be grateful to the donors for the welcome gesture.
In her statement the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) East Mrs. Elizabeth Turay thanked the Africa Muslims Agency and the community of Bo-Ngieya for taking the bold step in making the entire programme a success adding that elections are past and that people should now engage themselves in development plans for their various localities.
The AIG expressed dismay over the persistent complains police have been receiving about Bo – Ngieya for the past months of which some matters are in court. She appealed to the Bo –Ngieya community to remain united for the development of their area as government and donor can only help areas that are peaceful.
She informed her audience to immediately inform the relevant authorities in their locality of any happening that can pose security treat.
Earlier the chairman of the programme who is also the district Imam Sheik Alhaji Abdul Karim Morie Junisa described the ceremony as historic, significant and colourful for not only the people of Bo Ngieya but for Nongowa chiefdom and the Africa Muslim Agency in Sierra Leone.
Sheik Junisa explained that the construction of a God house in any community shows that the people of that community are ready to accept the religion and change their behaviour to serve the all Mighty Allah.
Sheik Junisa added that mosque building will also help to spread the message of God through his servant and that this will bring peace and unity among Muslims and the entire community as a whole. He called on every one to be religious and law abiding.
In his key note address at the ceremony the Director of Africa Muslims Agency Sheik Foaad Al-Naif disclosed that their motive in Sierra Leone is to give assistance to the people of this country in order to spread the Islamic religion and to preach the doctrine of the Holy Quran. Sheik Al-Naif said their success in spreading the Islam religion and propagating the word of God in this country lies in the hands of Sierra Leoneans themselves, adding that prayer is the only key for Man kind to enter heaven.
He called on Sierra Leoneans to worship God and to pray together.
He appealed to all Sierra Leonean to embrace each other and to work hand in glove to develop the nation saying development is a gradual process.
The Imam Alhaji Lamin Kabba, Sheik Mohamed Vandi and some other traditional leaders also made meaningful contributions respectively.
