The honeysuckle and blue coloured two storied building of the Adelaide Street Police station stood proudly against the April sun at the junction of Adelaide Street and Pricilla Street, after renovation by the philanthropist construction company – PTN Enterprises.
Starting late last year PTN have painted the police station repaired all the offices and done over one of the gates to the compound. The surprising fact is that most people would think that PTN Enterprises had won a donor funded contract to do the massive renovation of the Police Station. This however is not the case as the Construction Company did the renovation work – all for free! Mr P Nimneh, the Manager of PTN Enterprises said during the handing over ceremony of the Station to the Local Unit Commander, that over the years he has been observing the Police force and he finally came to the conclusion that for the fact that they have been working during rain or shine and overtime is not for them, they are the true patriotic Sierra Leoneans. He said “as a business man making profits I believe in giving back to the society and the Police who have been the hardest workers in our society was the apt choice” He promised that this was just the beginning. Mr Nimneh hastened to stress that he is not a rich man but that he has to fulfill his social responsibility and be an example to many out there who can also do the same for especially the Police. The PTN Enterprises Manager on top of the massive renovation donated a 5 KVA Petrol generator and 5 mobile phones with Celtel Top ups to the Adelaide street police officers. Al Sheik Kamara on behalf of the Executive Board of the Sierra Leone Police expressed their thanks and appreciation to PTN Enterprises.
