A two days training on performance monitoring and the use of community score card for Local government officials and seven Civil Society Organizations organized by Action Plus has ended at the youth sport club Mahei Vangahun road in Kenema city.
In his opening remarks the strengthening participation and divers officer Action plus Peter Kaitibi said the essence of the training was to brief the Civil Society groups and the Local government officials together with strengthening dialogue between them for good governance.
Giving a brief background of the project the National Director Action plus Rev. Samuel Sinah said the program started in 2004 with its objective to popularize the local government Act. Rev. Sinah revealed that the project started in Freetown adding that they extended their project to Kenema from two years ago to strengthening their operations especially with ward committees.
The Statistician, Monitoring and Evaluation officer in the Kenema District Council Daniel Lewis described the workshop as important and timely adding that it attracted both the council and the civil society members. Some of the issues Action Plus program deals with include Human Rights, Gender Equality, Good Governance, Social and Economic Rights and Community Development.
