Usif Bangura, a resident of 8 Magazine Street in Freetown, faced Magistrate Abubakarr Binneh Kamara at court No. 1A past Saturday on a six-count charge of allegedly attempting to commit murder.
Led in evidence by the Prosecutor, Inspector D.M Conteh, Mr. Morlai Sesay who identified himself as the victim’s (Fatmata Sesay) father, Identified the accused as his wife’s elder sister’s son.
Mr. Sesay testified that the act took place on the 10th March 2011 at 6 Magazine Street. He stated that his wife normally leaves their daughter in the compound with other children but when they returned in the evening of 10th March, they did not find her. He said they searched the whole compound even the surrounding compounds but could not find her.
He also stated that one Mohamed Jalloh told them that he saw the accused with the child that very evening. The witness further testified that they searched for the accused and made a report at the Ross Road Police station.
The following morning, Mr. Sesay continued, he was called by Mr. Abubakarr Fofanah from Ross Road Police station who informed him that they had found one Fatmata Sesay. He said he went to the station and indentified the girl as his daughter who had a deep cut on the side of her neck.
The witness further testified that Mr. Vandy, a Police Officer at Ross Road Police station, took the victim’s photo with his digital camera and he took another snap shot with his own camera which he tendered in the court.
