Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Court No. 2 on Pademba Road in Freetown on Tuesday 24th September 2019, committed Paul Mansaray to the Kissy Psychiatric Hospital for observation for 30-days. This ruling came after M.A.S Koroma, the lawyer representing the accused, tendered medical documents indicating that his client is of unsound mind to comprehend the charges preferred against him. The charges were therefore not read to him, nor did he enter into any plea. Mansaray is accused of wounding with intent, wounding and assault occasioning bodily harm of the complainant, Sallieu Koroma of Regent Road, Lumley contrary to Section 18, 20 and 47 of the Offences against the Person Act 1861. The attack occurred on Sunday 15 September 2019.

The police documents reveal that the accused maliciously inflicted bodily harm on the complainant who required 13 stitches for his injuries. He also sustained lacerations to his forearm. The case was prosecuted by Sergeant Newstead F.H. The case is adjourned to 24 October 2019.
