On Monday 23rd November, 2020, a release from Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) confirmed that the commission has started interviewing former President Ernest Bai Koroma in an undisclosed location, which the commission referred to as “secured and safe house.” The release which was signed by Patrick Sandi, Director of Public Education and Outreach at the ACC furthered that the interview will continue in an undisclosed location on another date agreed between the ACC and former President Koroma’s lawyers.
Koroma had his first successful interview with the ACC after the Commission was considering to issue a warrant of arrest for the former president after failing to honour the invitation from the commission. After that Koroma took to his twitter account claiming that he has concluded the much awaited interview with the ACC – “the chat was conducted smoothly and amicably.”
Koroma is being investigated for money laundering, abuse of office, misappropriation of public funds and other corruption related issues whilst he was President of the country, from 2007 to 2018.
