Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) Boss, Francis Ben Kaifala has said in a Facebook post that the ACC could not exhaust the issues in questioning Ex-President Ernest Bai Koroma in five hours during the second day of interviewing the former President. Keifala furthered that another date would be communicated for completion of the interview and next steps.
A release from the commission which was dated 25th November 2020 said the second interview was also done in the commission’s secured “Safe Houses”, “and should there be a need for further interview the same will be communicated to Ex President Koroma and his Legal Team and we except them to accordingly avail themselves as agreed.” Earlier, Koroma posted in his Twitter feed that he was ready for his second day of interviews with the ACC, adding that he remains confident and proud of his ten years of stewardship.
“I did my best for our country and I know I did NOTHING wrong. All I have always wanted is to ensure that we work together to move our nation forward in unity,” he added. A statement from the office of the former president said the former President will be returning to Makeni to continue his retirement with his family, and looking forward to going back to his farming activities.
Koroma is being investigated for money laundering and other corruption related offenses by the ACC while serving as President of Sierra Leone between 2007 to 2018.
