A 9 year old pupil of the Islamic Welfare along Blama road in Kenema Ramatu Foday would have been killed Tuesday yesterday morning when she came in contact with an electric cable out side her residence at 8 Kahunla Street.
Speaking to her mother Massah Foday at the said address, she explained to Awoko that, it was during a heavy storm Tuesday night when an electric cable apparently got looses and fell to the ground near their residence.
Neighbours who became aware of it, prevented other people from using the route.
She further explained that in the morning hours one of the small boys who stood watching the cable told her daughter who is in class four to touch the cable saying that there is no fire in it.
Ramatu then reportedly touched the cable and immediately a bolt of current surged through her felling her to the ground and wrapping round her hand. Others who saw the scene shouted and the father Alhaji Ibrahim Foday rushed to the scene with a stick which he then used to disengage the cable from the little girls hand though he himself reportedly received a blast of the electricity. Eventually however he was able to knock the cable off and Ramatu who was by then unconscious was immediately rushed for medical attention. At the time of going to press Awoko learnt that the child is still alive.
