Twenty-two year-old Amara Musa Michael is to pay one million Leones or spend seven years in jail at the Makeni State Prisons after he was found guilty of stealing a bike.
The notorious bike stealer, who was charged with larceny, pleaded guilty on his third appearance before Magistrate A E Fandy.
On January 4 the accused, who is commonly called Kpulun, hired a bike owned by one Kumba Jalloh of Makawa Road.
The bike, which was in Ibrahim Rogers’ custody, was given to the accused who hired it with the pretext of learning to ride.
After a brief learning period at the Practicing Primary School, the accused ran away with the bike, valued at Le 3,700,000, to Kenema.
Police mounted rigorous search for Amara, and he was eventually arrested in Kenema with the bike in late January and charged to court.
He was refused bail after two appearances.
The full penalty of the law came down on him on Thursday when the presiding Magistrate slammed him a seven years jail sentence or that he pay a Le1million fine.
It was ordered that the bike be returned to its owner.
