Seven People believed to be supporters of the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) Party met their untimely death yesterday on board one of the Libyan donated vehicles with registration number ADH 277 – SLB5 SLRTC which was transporting 16 of them from Makeni to attend the inauguration ceremony of President Ernest Bai Koroma at the National Stadium.
According to our Makeni correspondent the accident was caused by over speeding which resulted in the vehicle somersaulting some 13 miles from Makeni. Seven of the passengers have since died with another three hovering on the point of death and another being treated.
Among those who lost their lives were three important persons of the All People Congress in Makeni – Hawa Sesay of 18 Koroma street a former member of the RUF who later joined the All People Congress (APC) John Koroma the chairman of the Petty Traders Association in Makeni and Pa Karimu Kamara a business man.
The vehicle had reportedly been chartered by the Honorable Moses Sesay parliamentary representative for the area to transport the important personalities to Freetown to witness the inauguration. The driver of the vehicle is presently at large.
