About 60 athletes countrywide will take part in a Marathon race organized by the Ministry of Education Youth and Sports with its development partners in accordance with the World Literacy Day Celebrations tomorrow in Freetown.
The coordinator of the programme Aminata Sillah has told Awoko Sports that everything is set for this all important competition and they have decided to make the competition an open one to give more athletes the opportunity to participate in the competition.
She went further that this Marathon will encourage more youths to come on board to take part in the competition and the competition will be divided into two categories, female and male and the winners in each category will bag one million Leones as their prize.
The second and third in each category will also receive cash prizes and there will also be consolation prizes for some of the other athletes.
She disclosed that the race will start at the National Stadium to the following routes Brookfield main road, Kingharman road, Hill Cut road, Wilberforce, Spur road, Lumley police, S O S,Beach road, Aberdeen, Aberdeen road, Wilinkson road, Congo town, Ascension Town road, on to Adelaide Street, Campbell Street, Pademba Road, Circular road, Regent road, Goderich street, Clock Tower, Up Gun, Ross Road, Fourah bay road, Eastern Police, Abacha Street, P Z, Wilberforce street, Siaka Stevens street, Sanders street, St John, Savage Street, back to Stadium main gate.
