50 year old gets 57 years for sexual penetration

Mechanic Tommy Caulker, aged 50, of Nyandeyama Section in Kenema was sentenced to 57 years imprisonment during his last appearance  before the Presiding High Court Judge Abdulrahman Mansaray on two separate files with two counts charges each of sexual penetration contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2012.

State Counsel and Customary Law Officer East, Momoh Lansana, said convict Tommy Caulker was before the court on two files. One said that on diverse dates between 1st January 2019 and 31st October 2019 at Nyandeyama Section, Nongowa Chiefdom in Kenema Caulker engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a girl under the age of 18, to wit, 9 years.

Count two – Sexual penetration contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2012, Act no. 12 of 2012 as repealed and replaced by Section 4 A (3) of the Sexual Offences Amendment Act 2019, Act no. 8 of 2019. On file two – charged with the offence of sexual penetration contrary to Section 19 of the Sexual Offences Act 2012, it stated that on diverse dates between the abovementioned dates and place, Caulker engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a girl under the age of 18, to wit, 9 years.

The convict pleaded guilty to the offences. For file one he was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for count one, and 15 years for count two. For file two he was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment for count one and 20 years for count two to run concurrently.

Lawyer Patrick Kamara from the Legal Aid Board defended the convict.
