Five persons have appeared before Magistrate Joseph Amadu at the Port Loko Magistrate court on two-count charges of defamation.
The five: Emmanuel A.Turay, Amy L.Rogers, Abu Bakar Kargbo, John Kargbo and Adrew A.Sesay are alleged to have made comments on radio Bankasoka on December 27, wherein they said Rev Fr. George Gbamanja of the Catholic Parish in Port Loko was involved in corrupt practices.
The five were on the radio in the capacity of former pupils of the Port Loko Catholic Secondary School where Fr Gbamanja is the principal.
It was also alleged on the radio that the Rev Fr doubled as Principal and Board Chairman of the Catholic School and as a man who solely ran the affairs of the school without proper supervision.
The five accused persons were granted bail in the sum of five million Leones with one surety each.
