According to reliable information reaching Awoko Sports, a 38 man delegation is expected to represent Sierra Leone in the Commonwealth Games in India slated for October 3-14 this year.
According to NOC President Henry G Moore, during the competition about 71 commonwealth countries are expecting to participate in the competition.
He said all arrangement considering the games has been done and they have also submitted all forms to those who are expected to be part of the delegation. When asked if the games will not be cancelled compared to other competitions President Moore said it is a different game compared to other games. In these games the organizers are going to provide the tickets.
While some of other games that has been cancelled, the government or NOC has to provide the air tickets and they cannot afford such huge amount that they did not budget for.
President Moore stated that Commonwealth Games is a family game and it is a way of bringing commonwealth countries together in a friendly atmosphere. One of the cyclists Augustine Sesay that will be representing Sierra Leone during the Commonwealth Games in India has vowed to put Sierra Leone on top of the map during the competition. He said he has been working towards that goal since the beginning of the year, adding he is sure to achieve that goal.
Augustine said this not the first time he is going to represent Sierra Leone at international level. “I have represented the country at the ECOWAS Cycling Tour in Guinea and also Tour ‘D’ Faso which is one of the renowned cycling competitions in Africa. Augustine Sesay said with all these experiences he is sure to create serious impact in the games.
