Detective Police Constable (DPC) 1516 Abu Conteh, an exhibit clerk attached to the Exhibit Store at the Criminal Investigative Department (CID), has tendered in court 340 cartoons of cosmetics valued at Le586, 440 million as exhibits.
Led in evidence by Police Prosecutor Inspector James Kargbo, the witness said that on 11 March 2008 whilst he was on duty DPC 6566 J .Karim, attached to the serious crime unit, handed over to him 430 cartoons of assorted cosmetics as exhibits in a case of conspiracy to commit a felony, larceny and receiving stolen property.
According to police sources Abubakarr Sesay, a security of Hughes who was on duty at the YIAC centre at PZ, explained that on 20th February 2008 his supervisor, Donald Macauley who is the first accused, put him under gunpoint and stole goods worth Le586,440 million.
Abubakarr Sesay, the police noted, informed the centre’s owner Yusif Sow about the incident and that it was Mr Sow who then informed the police about it.
The police said they investigated the matter and found some of the stolen goods with some traders.
The seven accused persons were refused bail.
