The Director of Complaints Discipline and Internal Investigation Department (CDIID) Superintendent Fode Umaru Daboh has told reporters that 34 Police Officers were dismissed, 23 suspended and 94 received letters of warning from complaints made against them by members of the public.
He added that from January to December 2008 they received a total of 176 complaints from the public, adding that the complaints were successfully investigated before actions were taken. Superintendent Daboh noted that 21 officers were struck off for not coming to work. The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) he said is on its knees to fight against corruption and as such three officers were arrested for taking bribe from a taxi driver.
In another development, Superintendent Santigie Koroma Head of Traffic Western Area said that last year from January to December 2008 his division was able to collect Le184, 350,000 from fines levied against traffic offenders.
