Three sporting disciplines will benefit from government subsidies which have been given to the Sports Council the body that is responsible for governing all sporting disciplines in the country.
According to information the sum of 136 million Leones was sent to the Sports Council as the first quarter payment to the council.
Out of this money fourteen million two hundred and fifty thousand Leones will be given to the Handball Association for their international trip to Mali next month and the sum of forty million six hundred and five thousand Leones will be given to the Cricket Association for their participation in two international competitions – the U-19 competition this month in Mozambique and the senior national team in Nigeria next month. Another seventeen Million and seven hundred thousand Leones will be given to the cycling association as backlog payment owed by government to the association for the last Mano River Union peace cycling competition in Guinea which they won. The remaining money will be distributed to other sporting disciplines who have programmes to attend.
Some of the executive members of some of the sporting disciplines praised Bai Kabia for the step he has taken to share the money given to the council to other sporting disciplines that have programmes to attend. They said over the past years the money to the council is kept for football but with Bai Kabia it is a different story. That means that he wants every sporting discipline to develop in the country
