Three young ladies were over the weekend chosen to represent Sierra Leone at the Miss ECOWAS Beauty Pageant on Peace and development slated for October in Nigeria.
The three are Ramatu Wurie, Fatou Touray and Hawa Kamara. The winner and runners-up will represent Sierra Leone and the others will be on standby in case any of the two fall short.
11 young girls were invited for the audition which took place at the Balmaya Restaurant at Congo Cross. However due to the conditions of age, marital status and having given birth to children, one of them Muminatu Suma was disqualified because she was under age.
The coordinator Adonis Aboud told them they would be representing Sierra Leone for the Miss ECOWAS contest and he is expecting them to live up to expectation and win it for the country.
He introduced the judges to them who were Dr. Julius Spencer, Hannah Foullah, Nasu Fofanah, Vikie Remoe and Hajaratu Boma. He said all of them were experienced in such business and they will be neutral as they would be looking for the best.
The girls were asked to parade in their casual wears and then in swim suits. When they were asked simple questions, most of the answers were not too satisfactory. However, the coordinator Adonis Aboud said the winners would be helped and groomed to be ready to represent Sierra Leone.
Most of them were SSS students, tall with good model bodies and they are all aspiring to become models in the future.
Adonis Aboud thanked them for taking part and congratulated the winners and wished them good luck in Nigeria. For the losers, he encouraged them not to despair and urged them to continue to pursue their dreams as there will be more chances for them to exhibit their beauty in the future.
Hajaratu Boma, advised the winners to be listening to the radio and TV, reading newspapers and they should try to be au fait with what is going on in ECOWAS so they would be able to perform better in the competition.
Adonis Aboud told them that if any one of them has lied her age and it is proved, that person would be disqualified immediately from the competition. He told them that they should have their passports ready for the trip next month.
