With 19 people presently standing trail at the Freetown Magistrate Court on eight count charges ranging from forceful landing of an aircraft to conspiracy to defeat the course of justice, another set of three people will be charged to appear in court Friday on likely the same offences.
The three people to be charged to court include Ebenezer Macauley, the Acting Senior Air Traffic Controller, Ibrahim Manley, Aeronautical Information Services Officer and Amadu Sannoh believed to be a relative of wanted fugitive Gibril Koroma, commonly known as GK.
Police Operations Boss, Francis Munu confirmed to Awoko yesterday that, they [Police] were going to charge three people, but could not give the names. Police say, they could not charge to court the suspects with cocaine for now, as they are still investigating the issue.
It could be recalled that, following the alleged forceful landing of a Beech aircraft at the Lungi International Airport on the 13th of July with substance believed to be cocaine, over forty people, including seven foreigners were arrested but only 19 were charged to court, on charges not related to cocaine.
Meanwhile, the Police yesterday arrested one CL Bah, though the police operation Boss said, Bah was not arrested but invited for interrogation and that it is not in relation to the cocaine. “We invited him [CL Bah] for interrogation, based on intelligence we [police] got and nothing else”.
When pressed further, Munu said “we are interrogating CL Bah but not necessarily on the cocaine matter”. Bah was spotted yesterday in town with a Guinean vehicle with registration number RC 7476N.
“We are going to release him after the interrogation”, AIG Operations Munu assured Awoko.
