A Lexus Jeep with registration number AFH 516 at around 1:00 am on Saturday ran into a stationary 22 two tyres trailer with registration number AFC 771, loaded with heavy metals leaving the three passengers onboard the Jeep in critical condition.
According to eyewitness report, the driver of the Lexus Jeep was running at top speed from the Kissy Shell New Road direction and could not spot the heavily loaded trailer, which was parked by Wesleyan Junction, Grass field along Bai Bureh Road in the east end of Freetown.
The Jeep ran into the trailer from the back, giving way for extension of the 30 feet-long iron sheets into the jeep right from the wind screen. Residents around the premise of the accident were rather late to notice the accident since it was midnight.
Few who heard the heavy bang rushed to the scene to save lives. The three passengers – a lady and two men were reportedly met in the vehicle bleeding profusely from their mouths and nostrils and with broken hands and feet. The entire scene of the accident, especially around the Jeep was smeared with blood stains and broken metals.
The rescuers said that the three passengers were hopeless, though they managed to take them from the Jeep alive and were rushed to the Emergency Hospital.
