A notorious marijuana dealer in Makeni, Sampha Adams alias Opa, and 13 of his allies were on Friday morning arraigned at the Makeni Magistrate Court.
The marijuana dealers, including their customers, were brought to court charged with unlawful possession of cannabis sativa contrary to section 45 of the Pharmacy and Drug Act of 2001.
Sampha Adams of 14b Fofanah Street, Mohamed Kalla of 2 Soldier Street, and Mohamed Keita of 13 Magburaka Road all pleaded guilty and the Magistrate ordered them to pay a fine of Le 200,000 each or get an alternative imprisonment of six months.
The Magistrate later ordered the immediate burning of the confiscated marijuana in public view outside the court.
The other accused were Fatmata Koroma 7 Roke Street, Ibrahim Fofanah (Driver) 7 Magburaka Road, Ibrahim Sillah 2 Daramy Street, Dauda Kamara (1) 17 Sanda lane, Abdul Bangura 38 Fatther Street, Dauda Kamara (2) 10 Sanda Lane, Mohamed Kamara 2 Renka Lane, Ibrahim Kamara 26 Magburaka Road, Alfred Conteh (no address) civil servant, Ibrahim Barrie Water Works Road, Ibrahim Fofanah 3 Field Road, Mahawa kamara 39 Mellon Street, Ada Kamara (no address).
They were also given similar fines/sentences since they also entered a plea of guilt.
