A total amount of 260 million Leones is reportedly now being spent for the renovation of the National Stadium. This has been judged as too high by some soccer lovers when compared to the kind of renovation work that was going on at the National Stadium. This has created serious problems for the government who have paid about one fourth of the money to the company – Pyramid Group.
At a press briefing very recently on the issue, the Minister of Education Youths and Sports had disclosed to journalists that the amount needed for the rehabilitation work was 180 million Leones.
Now it seems a total sum of 80 million Leones will have to be added to the amount to finish the job. Meanwhile questions are being asked as to what the additional money will be used for when it appears no additional work is added to the renovation.
When you take a look at the renovation work the structure was there, the only thing that had to be done was the partition of the various rooms the welding, fixing of the gates, the up grading of the toilet facilities and the making of the tunnel.
The painting of the seats in the main bowl was done by Comium which is not part of the money.
The renovation work at the National Stadium has affected other sporting disciplines, because government now appears to be unable to fulfill its financial obligations to the other sporting disciplines, therefore a proper account of all monies spent must be openly declared by all those concerned.
