Rok Kamara, of Roburreh village in the Magburuka chiefdom, has died after drinking 25 packets of locally brewed Pega Pak gin.
Reports say the deceased, together with other people from the village, traveled to Romaneh for a funeral and shortly after that the deceased joined other people that were drinking.
Our correspondent reported that an argument ensued as to who would drink a bundle of Pega Pak containing 25 packs.
It is said that Rok Kamara threw his hat into the ring, saying that he could swallow the 25 packs at one go. But one Sorie challenged him that if he carried out that feat he would foot the bill.
The crimes officer at the Port Loko police station, detective Sergeant Vandy, explained that the deceased succeeded in drinking all 25 packs but was unable to go home.
Immediately he had drank the Pega Pak, the detective continued, he started sweating profusely losing consciousness and fell on the ground and that efforts to save him proved fruitless.
The police said the seller of the Pega Pak had gone into hiding.
