Makeni, SIERRA LEONE – The imminent 2023 EBK-Trophy Grand Finals are set to witness former Sierra Leone Premier League side Golden Dragons and three other teams fiercely battling for the last two spots. Alongside the Golden Dragons, Hydro Stars, Ocean Boys, and defending champions Sahid Conteh-U Football Club will be contending for victory.
All four teams have successfully advanced from their respective group stages in Zones A and B, situated in Makeni and Magburaka, securing their positions in the upcoming finals. These finals will also serve as the semi-finals for this year’s regional championship.
In Zone A (Makeni), Ocean Boys and Sahid Conteh-U have emerged as the top teams, while in Zone B (Magburaka), the Golden Dragons and Hydro Stars have similarly excelled, eagerly awaiting confirmation of the dates for their respective clashes.
The EBK-Trophy Organizing Committee announced that they will soon disclose the official date for these teams to compete against opponents from their respective zones in the finals. This grand event will provide direct qualification to the winners of each zone, who will subsequently vie for the coveted 13th-EBK Trophy at the Wusum Stadium on Christmas Day.
The EBK-Trophy grand finale promises a thrilling competition, eagerly anticipated by Tonkolili’s fans who are prepared to rally behind their zone’s finalists. The ultimate victor will confront the Makeni zone’s winner as they persist in their pursuit of claiming the EBK-Trophy for the first time.
However, it’s notable that the defending champions, Kholifa Stars of Magburaka, abstained from participating in this year’s edition to defend their previously clinched title due to their promotion to the Leone Rock Premier League. ARW/14/12/2023
