Twenty cyclists are expected to battle for supremacy in the first cycling race this year on Sunday, starting from the Aberdeen Road junction to Kent covering about 61 Kilometers.
The competition, named the Western Area Cycling Championship, is being organized by the Sierra Leone National Cycling Association (SLNCA). It was won last year by Moses Sesay.
The technical director of the association, Percy Nicol in an interview with Awoko Sports, disclosed that this year’s competition would be more competitive compared to last year’s.
He noted that during the competition all the elite cyclists who had just arrived from the two international competitions would also take part to make it more competitive.
Percy Nicol maintained that the association’s executive had been sponsoring this competition over the past years which had been a success story.
The technical director said, “this competition is very important as the best six cyclists will represent Sierra Leone in the tour de Cameroon next month.”
