Thousands of the SLPP supporters dressed in their party colours some with portrait of the National Women’s Leader, Mrs. Isatu Jabia Kabbah converged at the Holy Trinity Secondary School football field to welcome her and her entourage to Kenema city.
Mrs. Isatu Jabie Kabbah thanked them for coming out in their thousands to welcome her which signifies that Kenema district is the backbone of the SLPP.
Talking about the theme: Harnessing the strength of the women to bring the SLPP back to power 2012 she pointed out that women are not hypocrites because whatever they like is always manifested from the bottom of their heart.
She appealed to them to forget their individual differences before and after the Convention and further called on all supporters of SLPP to talk to their brothers and sisters in the PMDC and APC and bring them over to the SLPP party where they belong.
She observed that there are now 18 party male members who are seen breaking their heads to become flag bearer for the Party noting that no woman has so far emerged .She urged the women to tell the men to fully embrace them to build up the party for the 2012 election.
In his contribution Dr. Anthony Kakpindi Soyei said at this stage everybody wants transparency and accountability in the party adding that the days are gone when people used to do things under the table. He then donated a cheque of one hundred and fifty thousand Leones to the Kenema District women’s wing to boost their account and another Le150.000 to settle their bills, Dr. Soyei had earlier contributed millions of Leones for the refurbishment of the region party office in Kenema city at Hangha Road, all the party offices in all the 11Constituency offices and also opened bank accounts for all the offices in the constituencies in the district.
