130 demand backlog salaries from YES

About 130 workers of the National Tourist Board, who are working under the Youth Employment Scheme (YES), yesterday stormed the youth and sports ministry in Freetown demanding their two-month backlog salaries.
One of the affected youth, Abdul Karim Sesay, said they went to the ministry to enquire when they would receive their salaries but was told by the permanent secretary to come later.   
Mr Sesay noted that, “this is not the first time we have been treated in such a manner. When we started the job about eight months ago in the first five months they were paying us Le 100,000 as salary but after we decided to quit the job our salary was increased to Le150, 000.”
