At the recent 1st Dan Championship, Alie Turay of Vic Amara Karate School was crowned champion with 5.6 and bagged a cheque of Le3 million while Kelvin Abbon of King Tom Karate School was second taking home Le2 million. Third place went to Momoh P. Fofanah of Wadoka Karate School, who took home Le1 million for his effort. The 2nd Dan Championship saw Sam Vic Amara of Vic Amara Karate School crowned champion after scoring 5.6 and took home a Le3 million cheque.

Abu Bakar Kamara was second with 5.5 and received a cheque for Le2 million. In the 3rd Dan Championship, Abdulai Koroma of Yokokai Karate School won the championship with 5.7, beating Lamin Bangura who scored 5.6. Abdulai Koroma of Yokokai Karate School emerged as the biggest winner after winning both the Kata Open and the 3rd Dan Championship taking home the giant trophy plus cheques totalling Le7 million, followed by Sam Vic Amara of Vic Amara who was third in the Kata Open and won the 1st Dan Kata Championship to bag cheques totalling Le6 million.

Abu Bakar Kamara, who was second in the Kata Open and second in the 1st Dan Kata Championship, also received cheques totaling Le6 million.

In his statement, the Sierra Leone Karate Federation President Victor Amara expressed his excitement for organising the competition, noting that the one day competition was solely delivered by his association which decided to put aside Le30 million towards it. “This competition was funded by the Sierra Leone Karate Federation in order to identify the talents that will be representing the country in future international competitions,” he said.
