The Parliamentary Oversight Committee Chairman for Youths and Sports Hon. Nurudeen Sankoh Yilla has urged that the appointed Youth Commissioner should be within the age limits of youths.
The MP told Awoko that his concern was not who was going to be appointed but that the age of the person to be appointed. He said since the President has made the call for Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora to come and assist in nation building, there should not be any discrimination in the selection.
He said he expects the youths Commissioner to be somebody that understands the issues of the youths and also one that will be ready to coordinate youth activities in all the districts and regions.
Hon. Sankoh also lauded the move by the President in removing youths issues from the Ministry of Education Youths and Sports stating that the Commission shall address the numerous youth problems in the country. “Youths will now have the confidence that there is a Commission that will address their issues”.
The Bill entitled, the National Youth Commission has been gazetted and is now in Parliament to be debated.
