The National Elections Coordinator for the All Peoples Congress (APC) party, Leonard Balogun Koroma has said that so far “we are satisfied with the results coming in from different polling stations”.
He said that the National Electoral Commission (NEC) had warned that ‘nobody should announce results or make projections, but with the results coming in so far, it is good for us.
The Elections Coordinator stated that Saturday’s polls was remarkable because it was peaceful despite all the predictions, there was not even one incidence of violence.
Koroma reiterated that International Observers were astounded that the elections were conducted peacefully, adding that credit should be given to President Koroma, Julius Maada Bio and the other candidates for their commitment to non-violent elections.
That commitment has paid off and Sierra Leoneans should be proud to say that we have conducted the most peaceful elections, he said.
He went on to state that the party has no disappointment over the results coming from the East and South, stating that compared to the results they were having from Kailahun in the previous elections.
Koroma said that the party is likely to have seats in Moyamba, Kenema and Kailahun. He urged supporters of APC to be calm and be patient.
Also, Barbara Bangura Local Consultant, Women Situation Room said that generally the elections were peaceful.
