The Deputy Government Spokesman Sylvester Sheku Suaray has strongly discredited allusions making the rounds that the Government of Sierra Leone has a hand in the recall of ERSG Michael Schulenburg.
He added that as far as government is aware, it has a very good working relationship with Schulenburg for which there are several evidences.
Mr. Suaray noted that is it disappointing that certain people are associating the ERSG’s recall with the Government of Sierra Leone.
“The ERSG was not recalled because of complaints from this government. It is a decision of the UN and whatever led to the decision has nothing to do with the Government of Sierra Leone,” he maintained.
Government, he said, is not happy with the decision because the ERSG was a friend of this government. “We have no reason to be happy that he has been recalled. We would have loved him to be here until the elections ends, but we don’t know what led to his recall,” Mr. Suaray stated.
The Deputy Government Spokesman recalled the good works of the ERSG which he noted includes the transformation of the Sierra Broadcasting Service (SLBS) to a public broadcaster, the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) and that he has worked very well with civil society in the country.
