The Scribe of the Sierra Leone Athletics Association (SLAA) Sundufu Sowa has said that this year Boxing Day sports is going to be an international event because they are hoping to have countries like Niger, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Guinea participating.
He also stated that they are also planning to include the forces and parastatals, to give it more flavor, so that more people will be attracted to this year’s competition.
Sowa also revealed that ahead of this year’s Boxing Day Sports, they will be conducting a national officiating course for athletic officials at the National Stadium in Freetown.
During the cours, 36 participants from all the four regional bodies under the SLAA are expected to participate in the course.
Sowa said the course is very important, as they will be able to upgrade the standard of the officials, as they prepare for the forthcoming annual Boxing Day sports meet.
“It is very important for us to have this course which will help upgrade our officials in line with International standards. Few improvements and changes have been made, so this course is timely for us to conduct ahead of the Boxing Day sports in December,” Sowa said.
