The Former coach of the National Cricket team Cyril Panda has disclosed to Awoko that some of the senior players who were selected to be part of the national team are not in good shape.
Cyril Panda said that the team should have been dominated by the U-19 players which would have helped the nation to accomplish its task easily to become an associate member.
He said out of the 14 players only 5 U-19 players were selected leaving some of them out who are in good shape for the senior players. The selection he argued was not done on merit but on sentiments to please some of the senior players who always give them wrong information.
He mentained that originally the executive had the option to have at least 8 players of the U-19 players but they decided to change their mind after 13 players on the U-19 team signed a protest letter.
It was on this grounds that the executive decided to drop some of these players as punishments.
Panda went further to describe this particular senior side as having the best bowlers after the reign of the Solomon Fatoma squad. He stated that their batting power is however not too good. He went further to advice the team that they can only succeed in the competition if they take the field first during the match explaining that because of their good bowling ability they will able to get their opponent out the crease very quickly.
