The Chairman for Sports Committee in Parliament Hon. Nuru Deen Sankoh Yillah said that they are going to investigate the reason why the Cricket delegation that should have represented Sierra Leone in Canada were refused visa.
He said any one that is responsible for the refusal of the visa will be punished. He said what they have done is very bad as they have destroyed the cricketers and the nation as a whole.
He went further to explained that when he received the news from the President of the association, Beresford Bournce Coker, he was shocked and he immediately remembered the boys who have done so well to attain such height and to be treated in such a way.
He said he met with the sports committee in parliament to see how they can assist the cricket organization on their plan B to get the team in Canada.
The Director of Sports Bai Kabia in his own contribution said that the cricketers have faced a problem that they did not create themselves. He said the players deserved better than this and appealed to them in the future that players should not decide who to be a coach or not as their role is to play the game and be successful.
The President of the association Beresford Coker said he was speaking with a heavy heart because of the effort they made as they have suffered for long to have achieved such success. He said the boys were determined to continue their success and they were ready to learn with all their heart and to make the country proud.
He mentioned that David Tholey of ICC has assured them that they will do everything possible to see them in Canada through plan B. The plan B is for the team to check the route through Brussels and forward it to ICC. It is now left with ICC to ensure that they receive the visas as that is their last option.
