The Inspector General of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Brima Acha Kamara has said the SLP shall not allow any new government to manipulate it.
Speaking at the usual Police press briefing the I.G said the SLP will always be there to maintain the rule of law and they will not allow themselves to be used by politicians against their opponents.
The police boss assured journalists that “there is the Civil Society that will not sit by and allow any reckless government to muzzle some people. People should not panic as long as there is the rule of law. Those who are creating the panic are those who really don’t know how a government operates”
IGP Acha Kamara said it was clear there would be a presidential run-off and the SLP was concerned about the security of the state.
He warned people to desist from making inflammatory statements maintaining “that will not help the peace.”
The IGP stressed that the SLP shall continue to maintain its professionalism to again police the presidential run-off peacefully and successfully.
Assistant Inspector General of Police and spokesman, Chris Charlie said the SLP have their political limits and they do not interfere with their service delivery.
