The newly appointed Joint Force Commander Brigadier General S.O Williams has promised to address the key welfare issues of the military such as the handling of ration, drugs, accommodation and timely payment of salaries as a means of ensuring that the morale of soldiers is always high.
He made these remarks during a conducted tour of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces at Kambia, Kabala, Makeni, Yele, Bo, Kenema and Moyamba amongst other deployments and formation units across the country to get first hand information on current issues affecting the military and the development of RSLAF.
Brigadier Williams reminded soldiers of the maintenance of discipline, chain of command and fair play of the Army noting that if these issues are not properly addressed it has the propensity to undermine the military command structure.
He also assured soldiers of RSLAF of participating in UN missions in the near future adding that it will go a long way in building the capacity and empowerment of soldiers and improving the standard and welfare of soldiers.
He further reassured personnel of Government’s commitment to boosting the security sector upon the availability of resources.
Addressing stakeholders in the regions the commander said he was impressed with the good working relationship that existed between the police chiefdom authorities and local council which was evidenced in the reception accorded him.
He appealed to Officers to work hand in hand with their communities to support development agendas.
