The national Chairman of the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP), John Oponjo Benjamin has dispelled rumours that there is a crack within the SLPP and it is sitting on a time bomb ready to explode after the Party’s Convention. “The Party will come out strong and united set for State House after the Freetown National Convention slated for March 5th 2011”, he added.
Speaking to Awoko at the end of the emergency Convention held in Bo the SLPP National Chairman said the upcoming National Convention is very different in nature and cannot be compared to the then Makeni Convention which ended up with the birth of the PMDC,
He further stated that the Party’s National Executive has no one candidate amongst the 19 aspirants and that all of them are poised to fully support any lucky winner who will eventually become the next President of Sierra Leone.
Speaking further John Benjamin said that the extension of the mandate for the various Executive positions speaks volumes in praise of how much has been achieved.
Responding to questions the Opposition Party Chairman accused the ruling APC of failure to live up to the task of good governance particularly in the area of bread and butter issues which he stated constitutes the lives of Sierra Leoneans.
