The All People’s Congress’ (APC) presidential affairs spokesperson, Alpha Kanu, has stated that the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) “are not gracious in defeat .”
He made this remarks during a one-hour interactive discussion programme- ‘Straight Talk’- at the United Nations’ radio in Freetown over the weekend.
The topic of the discussion, which was moderated by Claudia Anthony, was “government of national cohesion”.
Addressing SLPP’s stalwart Jacob Jusu Saffa aka JJ Blood, who was raising eyebrows as to the new government’s “government of national cohesion concept”, Mr Kanu said, “you have to be magnanimous in victory,” adding that “the time has come for us to work together…come let’s play together, without you [JJ Saffa] the team is not complete.” Reacting to Mr Kanu’s appeal for all to work together, JJ Saffa spat out: “the APC are reaping what we sowed: tolerance, democracy and press freedom… reconciliation should (also be seen to be pragmatic)”.
